CFL salary cap rises to $4.2M

Canadian Football League general managers will have more money at their disposal to sign players when league-wide free agency kicks off on Feb. 15.

CFL commissioner Mark Cohon on Tuesday announced a 3.75 per cent increase in the salary cap for 2008, from $4.05 million to $4.2 million.

"Our league is moving forward, and the increase in the cap reflects our progress," Cohon said from league headquarters in Toronto.

"At the same time, an increase of this size speaks to our teams' responsibility to our players, who make our game great, and our fans, who keep it strong, to live within our means."

A move to raise the salary cap made sense, Cohon added, when considering average league attendance exceeded 29,000 for the first time since 1983 and domestic television ratings continue to be healthy.

Ideology has no party affiliation. And PLEASE don't speak for the rest of us liberals who believe that conservative-bashing is a weak and ineffectual way to make a point.

Climate Change Blamed for First Baghdad Snows in 100 Years

No lie. You'll prolly end up seeing him on Dr. Phil or something. I hardly recognize him anymore. It's simply a lifestyle/behavior that people can change if they really want to. I believe it's no different from other lifestyles/behaviors I personally consider destructive.

Oh look, it's an "anti-obesity" banner ad! What a bunch of haters! ---->

Accused foreclosure scam artist behind bars

It's a housing scam so big investigators admit the cases they know about may be just the tip of the iceberg. A Las Vegas man is behind bars accused of preying on those who were about to lose their homes. He said he could save them from foreclosure.

But as News 3 Investigator Mitch Truswell found out, the state says he simply cost people money and in some cases much more.

Matt Marlon has gone by plenty of names: Andrew Johnson and John Alson, among others. If you recognize him, the Secretary of State's Office wants to hear from you.

The name may have changed but, unfortunately, the story was always the same. Carolyn Ellsworth with the Secretary of State's Office is one of many helping to unravel the maze of deception.

At least sixty valley homeowners thought Marlon could help them.
