A woman whose home was flooded after an irrigation canal ruptured in Northern Nevada filed a negligence lawsuit Thursday against the canal's operator, local governments and home builders. Judy Kroshus alleged that developers never told her of a December 1996 flood in the Fernley area, about 35 miles east of Reno, and that local government officials did not have an adequate emergency plan in place before she took out a loan and bought a home there in 2002. Kroshus also alleged the canal operator, the Truckee-Carson Irrigation District, failed to stem the flow of water during a powerful Jan. 5 storm, a failure she said contributed to the canal breach. The rupture flooded hundreds of homes. .

Let's ask what seem to be the two big questions about the upcoming game. First, if New England wins, are these Patriots the best team ever? Second, if the Giants win, will that constitute the greatest upset ever? If New England wins, the Patriots will not be the greatest team ever -- at least conditionally, until such time as the NFL reveals what was in the Patriots' cheating videos and documents that the league destroyed in September. Maybe once we know the full truth, then a 19-0 Patriots team could be considered the greatest, depending on what the full truth turns out to be. The NFL promised to get to the bottom of the Patriots' cheating and reveal the truth to the public; instead, the NFL destroyed the New England documents and refuses to say what they contained.

And while the decision ultimately goes through the town's Board of Selectmen and then, most likely, to a townwide referendum vote, it has been the committee's job to weed through thousands of pages of proposals and whittle down a list that began last year with 10 developers. And the clock ticks. The town has until January 2009 to transfer title of the state-owned property to a developer or else the state reasserts control of the land and the search. Preston already spent more than a year of its three-year state-imposed timeline in its failed dealings with Utopia Studios Ltd., the developer that had proposed a theme park and entertainment complex but failed to meet deadlines in its development agreement with the town. The town voted to cut its ties with Utopia in May 2007 and start a new search.

You can now forget you ever heard the name Riley Giles. Lindsay Lohan's rehab distraction of a boyfriend has ridden his set of coattails as far as they are going to take him. According to People.com (hi, Suzy!), Lindsay and Riley broke up just after he went home with the starlet for Thanksgiving. "They're over – they've broken up," a source blabbed. "She is concentrating on her life and her career," another pal said. Interestingly enough, Lindsay was out and about the other night with sometimes boy toy and Paris Hilton ex Stavros Niarchos. Hmmm... .
